Epilogue: Subject - Fugue

Librarian’s Note: The following is a series of anecdotes submitted to the library of the Winter Court from a nameless, untitled diary. Many scholars have speculated as to the writer’s identity, given the context of its contents, but said faerie had firmly denied ever doing such a frivolous thing as keeping a diary.

Entry I
I managed to save one of the Unseelie infiltrators from the princess, and they were brought in for questioning the next day. Under the power of Queen Karma’s truth magics, all the Unseelie Court’s machinations came to light – the plot to kidnap Princess Uri and steal her away to the Unseelie kingdom, to brainwash her and have her return to the Seelie Kingdom for a coup d’etat, and to seal both of the Faerie Kingdoms’ realms under the power of the Unseelie’s agenda. Strict sanctions were placed on the Unseelie Kingdom; they ceded a large amount of land near to the border, which would be declared a “no-man’s land” wherein trespassing was expressly forbidden, for the purpose of protecting both parties’ sovereignty.
Entry II
Not long after the hearing at the Grand Court for Katarina’s fate, the half-Unseelie known as Yone made his confession regarding the late Queen to Fiora of the Spring Court. Accompanied by Lady Tris, I staked my knight’s oath upon the testimony of his word, and Yone was forgiven for his past crimes.
Entry III
The princess herself seems to have sobered significantly at the realisation of how close things came to unravelling right beneath our noses. She seems as disillusioned with the current leadership as I had been, and is putting in more efforts into her own exploits as a crown princess, building power and influence both within and without the Winter Court. Lady Tris is most proud of her endeavours. I have heard the other knights speaking of her as “Uri of the Rainbow Court” – for her retinue is the first in our recorded history to have a full standing of knights hailing from each individual court of the Faerie Kingdom.
Entry IV
Castle Winterwood continues to stand proud as one of the pinnacles of power in our kingdom. A few decades have passed since the incident at the grand ball, and it seems the laws have been well-upheld; if nothing else, the Unseelie faeries are certain to punish those who would undo their own web of power, and thus, Katarina’s failure became our success.
Meanwhile, Lady Tris tells me that she plans to take on a certain lord consort soon. I advised her to keep such a thing under wraps until she is certain of the stability of our kingdom, for such a scandalous rumour would certainly cause upset in these times of hard-earned peace.
Whether or not she will heed my advice stands to be seen; regardless, I will continue to stand by her side.
